The following drawing shows the layout of the property with the building, parking area, storm water management pond, septic system recovery area and rabbinage. To minimize the amount of earth to be moved (and therefore lower the cost of construction), the architects designed a long narrow building that follows the contours of the land (note the lines of elevation).
Here is the floor plan. The building has a sanctuary that doubles
as a social hall. It has 4 classrooms. One is configured so it
can be used for onegs. The other three classrooms will have partition
walls to provide maximum flexibility. The building also has a library/office
and a rabbi's office.
This drawing shows two things. The left half shows how the the
sanctuary will have predominantly a northern exposure (i.e. ambient light)
and the bima will be on the eastern wall. The right half shows how the
building's heating and air conditioning will be configured in a two zone system.
The following shows the building's appearance from front and back.
This is a cross view of the sanctuary, facing North. The bima
is on the right.
Gensler created a model of the building. Here is a an external
view.
Here is the internal view.
Note: There are some differences between the model and the floor
plan shown above. This is because there was not enough time to incorporate
last minute changes to the floor plan in the model.
